-naturalist and ardent conservationist
-studied at University of Washington
-California's topography is very diverse
-coast ranged from 2000-8000 feet high
-the Sierra is 500 miles long, 70 miles wide
- Yosemite was made up of rocks that were the size of mountains
-middle region full of big trees and bushes
-bear and deer graze through the wilderness
-gold region of California, it brought miners from all over the world
-February to April the whole foothill is a swarm of bees
-every winter the Sierra gets snow
-north region floods with lava
-the volcanos have an impact on all the surrounding locations
-Pitt River Indians
-the ice started to fade away
-California continued to slowly change over time into what it is today
